Here's a cast and character guide to help introduce you to the whimsical and mysterious world of Gravity Falls.

Gravity Falls might seem like just any other animated show, but there's a reason why people are still clamoring for a third season even though the series ended back in 2016. The show's premise is simple enough, as the story follows Dipper and Mabel Pines, a pair of fraternal twins, that are sent off to spend the summer with their Grunkle (Great Uncle) Stan.

For most families, this would mean a boring summer vacation. However, most families don't end up vacationing in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon to help their Grunkle run an eccentric tourist spot called the Mystery Shack. The twins soon come to realize that the town holds many secrets. Some of which can be traced all the way back to the days of prehistory.

Despite its relatively short two-season run, Gravity Falls has left audiences with memorable stories worth an entire lifetime. A huge part of the show's success can be attributed to its colorful cast of characters. If you've always wanted to learn more about them or if you're curious about the show and want to dip your toes before taking the plunge into the wonderful world of Gravity Falls, then we've got just the thing for you. Here's a thorough cast and character guide for Gravity Falls.

Mabel Pines, voiced by Kristen Schaal, is a bundle of boundless energy. She can't help but take over the scene whenever she's on screen. One of the best things about Mabel is that she'll never let anything get her down. No matter how dire things seem, she always finds the strength and determination to power through especially if it's for the people she cares about.

Kristen Schaal is an experienced actor, comedian, and voice artist. She's been in a slew of different movies and shows including Toy Story 4, Bob's Burgers, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and Flight of the Conchords.

Dipper Pines, who is played by Jason Ritter, is the embodiment of the awkward teenager stereotype. We mean this in the best way possible, as Dipper's tendency to be anxious about everything and overthinking all of his decisions makes him relatable. Dipper also loves to explore and lets his curiosity carry him from one adventure to the next. Given all of this, it's easy to see why Dipper is considered by many to be the most likable character on the show.

Jason Ritter has appeared in shows like Girls, Raising Dion, and A Million Little Things. He's also done voice acting work for film and television and has worked on shows such as Captain Fall, Frozen II, and Skylanders Academy.

While Pacifica Northwest, voiced by Jackie Buscarino, may seem like a stuck-up and spoiled rich kid there's more to her than you may realize. The granddaughter of the supposed town founder Nathaniel Northwest is one of the more complex characters on the show.

At first, Pacifica treats just about everyone as inferior to her due to her incredibly sheltered and crooked upbringing. This all changes when she gets to know the people of Gravity Falls on a more personal level. So much so that Pacifica eventually goes against the wishes of her family for the sake of the common good.

Jackie Buscarino has been involved in a multitude of animated shows. She's worked as a producer on shows like Steven Universe and Victor & Valentino. Aside from Gravity Falls, she's also lent her voice-acting talents to shows like Adventure Time and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.

Lil Gideon, voiced by Thurop Van Orman, is the owner of the Tent of Telepathy. Naturally, this makes him Grunkle Stan's sworn enemy. Not only is Gideon incredibly intelligent, but he also possesses supernatural psychic abilities that he uses to torment Grunkle Stan and the Pines twins.

Thurop Van Orman is the creator of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. He's also written for shows like Adventure Time, Camp Lazlo!, and The Powerpuff Girls.

Wendy, voiced by Linda Cardellini, is the epitome of cool. Given her aloof and laid-back nature, some of you would probably assume that she can't be relied upon when things get tough. This couldn't be further from the truth. Wendy was born to a family of lumberjacks and it shows. She doesn't hesitate to face threats, supernatural or otherwise, head-on.

Linda Cardellini has worked on a multitude of different shows and movies such as Dead to Me, ER, and the iconic live-action Scooby-Doo movie. Outside of her voice acting work on Gravity Falls, Cardellini has also lent her talents to the Nickelodeon animated series Sanjay and Craig.

Grunkle Stan, voiced by Alex Hirsch, is the owner of the infamous Mystery Shack. If you can look past the get-rich-quick schemes that he seems to be able to put together at light speed, Grunkle Stan can actually be quite endearing if you can look past his abrasive demeanor. This is most evident when you see how much he truly cares about Mabel and Dipper.

Aside from being the creator of the show, Alex Hirsch also lends his voice to multiple characters in Gravity Falls. Prior to creating the show, Hirsch had worked on a number of notable animated shows such as The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Fish Hooks.

Soos, who is also voiced by Alex Hirsch, rounds out the cast of the Mystery Shacks kooky employees. While Soos isn't the sharpest tool in the shack, he makes up for it with his unbridled enthusiasm. This is why it isn't at all surprising that Soos becomes fast friends with Dipper as the two are constantly getting entangled in one of the town's many mysteries.

A show about a mysterious town isn't complete without a wacky old man. Alex Hirsch shows off his voice-acting versatility by taking on the role of Old Man McGucket. While it can be easy to dismiss his rants as the ramblings of a madman, there's more to this old man than meets the eye.

With that being said, Old Man McGucket's rants are absolutely hilarious. So much so that fans consider him to be one of the funniest characters in the series.

Bill Cipher, who is also voiced by Alex Hirsch, is the main antagonist of the entire series. Bill Cipher is an interdimensional demon that can control other people. Originally limited to the mindscape, Bill wreaks havoc on Gravity Falls after being summoned into the physical world by a reckless paranormal investigator.

J.K. Simmons voices Grunkle Ford. He is Grunkle Stan's twin brother who has been missing for decades. While he's absent for most of the series, his presence can be felt as he has left his mark all over the town of Gravity Falls. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled and be on the lookout for the most elusive member of the Pines family.

J.K. Simmons has played many iconic roles throughout his career. He's been in films such as Spider-Man, Whiplash, and Juno. What many of you may not know is that he's also managed to put together a respectable voice-acting career. He's been in a slew of different animated series and movies like Invincible, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, and Legend of Korra.
